At 3:49 on Friday, November 7th, Samuel Jacob Jones came to join our family. I was taken to Southern Regional Womens Medical Center on Thursday to induce after we found out that the amniotic fluid was too low. We arrived there about 4 p.m. and the induction started around 5 p.m. I labored until about lunch time (you will have to confirm the time with my family since I was kinda out of it) when I began to push. I pushed for about 2 hours before the doctor called for an emergency c-section.

Prior to pushing we had already had 2 scares where Sam's heart rate had gone down too much and we were told that if it happened again they would do a c-section. After pushing for so long and him not dropping then decided that it would be too hard on both of us for me to continue to push. The epidural had not been working correctly at this point and I felt all of the pushing, and when I went in to the OR they tried to boost the epidural for the c-section but I could still feel them pinching as they were trying to determine if I was feeling it. That meant general anestesia for me. I woke up in recovery a couple of hours later with Floyd telling me that we have a perfect baby boy...Sam. He thought that I had already woken up a bit and had been told so it surprised him when I had a surprised look because I was surprised that it was all over.

Family and Friends Shower

My mom and mother-in-law held a baby shower for us last weekend that was completely overwhelming. We are so grateful for all that we have been given in preparation for Sam's arrival. I was so surprised at the generosity that has been shown to us, even from those who we don't know but know our family.

This beautiful blanket was made just for Sam!

Circus

A couple of weeks ago Floyd and I went to the circus. We have been trying to do some fun things together as a couple before the baby comes. I wanted to share some picture and the things that we saw that made our evening so enjoyable.

The tight rope acrobats are always fun to watch.

I think that Sam can sense how much Floyd was enjoying this, especially during the tigers. He started moving around so much during that time. I was just sitting there fascinated by my husband's enjoyment and the movement of our child all at the same time. It was a great night for us!

33 weeks!!

Well, almost 33 weeks. I went to the doctor yesterday for another check up and although I was 32 weeks and 5 days they were rounding up. That was the first time that they have done that for me, but I guess it is not surprising considering Sam's size. We did another ultrasound while I was there and he is coming in at 6 lbs now. He is continuing to have an expected weight of 10 lbs...of course, that could change over the next several weeks, but he continues to grow and get larger. This does increase the chance of a c-section for me. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to prepare for the arrival of Sam.

We have been continuing to pray for our little Sam as he continues to grow into a big boy. We had a 3-D ultrasound yesterday and got some fun pictures that we want to share with everyone.

We also got some new measurements of Sam during the ultrasound...he is already weighing in at a whopping 4 lbs and 10 oz according to the measurements. Please continue to pray for him as he is on the large size. The doctor will continue to watch his size to make sure that all is going well as we progress.

We also took some pictures of Mommy to remember the changes that have been happening this summer. Here I am at 29 weeks.

Prayer for the Sandersons

My heart pours out to God with prayers for my friends, the Sandersons. Their preemie baby Suzie was born 3 months early, and as that is where we now are in our pregnancy it just breaks my heart...yet I rejoice at the same time with the birth of this precious child. If you know them, please check out the link on our site to their blog to see how things are progressing. Even if you don't know them, please pray with us for the precious life of this little one. She continues to grow and progress, but still has far to go before she will be able to go home with her parents. What a blessing a child is!!!

Update on Baby Jones

For those who didn't already know, we have chosen the name of Samuel Jacob for our precious miracle. We get more and more excited each and every day. So far, everything has been doing well with his progress. We went to the doctor on Friday and found that he seemed to be larger than expected, so we are going back on Monday for an ultrasound to see how he is doing. Please pray that all will continue to go well, and that this is just a sign of a healthy boy who is eager to grow and meet his parents. Please pray for the health of Mommy as well as I have been having problems with back pain and swelling. I have been advised by Daddy to spend this weekend as a bed rest weekend and to stay put at home. I have gotten a lot of sleep and the swelling has been going down and I have felt better because of all of the rest. I have learned through this weekend that I simply need to take better care of myself and get more rest.

We are trying to get things ready in our home to be prepared for him, but this had been quite a journey to get ready. We were given a baby bed and much more great stuff for Sam this week, which we are immensely thankful for. Now it is just being ready for the furniture to come in our home (it is staying at Larry and Brenda's until we have a place to put it). Hopefully, we will have a place to put it in the next two weeks.

Time for an update

I know, no news from the Jones Family lately. Life seems to just seems to stay so busy that we don't have time to keep up any more. I am now about 16 weeks into the pregnancy, and things are going just fine. We are very excited to know that we are getting closer to the next ultra sound. Daddy (Floyd) can't hardly wait to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. The time will be here before we know it, though.

We are both staying busy at work, and enjoying that. Life outside of work seems non existent at times when I come home and am ready to go to bed. I am having to learn how to pace myself more with the things that I commit to, as my body (and the baby!) aren't wanting me to do everything that I want to do.

We do have a new addition to our family to share with everyone. About a month and a half ago we adopted a new puppy, Toby, into our lives. I don't have pictures ready to share right now, but will get some soon. He is a very active puppy, but that activity is great for Jasper. Toby is adorable, and brings us much joy.

My time is running short this morning, so I must get busy with the things that I have planned, for this busy day. More to come later.

Why would we have this stuff?

Maybe you guessed it, maybe you didn't...but you are about to find out why:

We are having a baby!!!

We found out last week that I am in the early stages of pregnancy. Our first ultrasound is scheduled for March 21st, when we will be able to see and hear our baby for the first time!

We will try to update our site regularly with new updates to keep everyone in the loop aboutwhat is happening.

Jasper

You have asked, we are responding. Here is our precious dog, Jasper.

He loves to sleep on the bed, especially when we are not around and he can snuggle into his favorite spot.

His spot can change, but you can be guaranteed that he is always comfortable. He loves blankets and pillows. When we are not home we close the bedoom door, but he will curl up on a pillow or blanket on the sofa.

He is definately our baby, and as such we like to call him "Deesper." Guess you have to hear it to understand.

Just about anytime that Floyd is home Jasper likes to be near him. His favorite time is when Floyd is in the recliner and he climbs up to lay on him.

We had a wonderful Georgia snow a couple of days in the last week. Winter is Floyd's favorite time of the year, so we had so much fun with it.

Ruby Falls

When we were in Chattanooga we had the opportunities to see several of the sights. I will share some of our favorite pictures from each place as I get the opportunity. These pictures were taken at Ruby Falls.

These are columns that we saw down in the cave. For those who may not be familiar with Ruby Falls, the man who found the falls dug an elevator shaft down into the mountain to try to find an old abandoned mine. He found a passageway that he crawled through to find the falls and this is a section that he went through on that first journey.

The fish is an example of the imagination that the people at Falls have in the finding in the cave. They spot many things that vaguely do represent something and will label it to give the visitors something to look at as they walk to the falls. The walk through the cave to the falls and back is about a mile, so they do try to entertain you as you walk. Also, the passageways are very small, only room for a single file line in some sopts, but there is only one way in and out. Because of this you will have groups passing you going the opposite direction, so the group that is going in stands as far to one side of the path as they can while the group that is exiting passes.

Our First Anniversary

We just returned from a trip to Chattanooga to celebrate our anniversary. We had a wonderful time relaxing and hanging out together. We have decided to start documenting our journey through life together in pictures and wanted to be able to share that with our friends and family.
